Description: The Animal Defense League of Texas (ADL) is San Antonio’s oldest nonprofit companion animal shelter. We are seeking an energetic Texas-licensed DVM to join our team as a third full time shelter veterinarian. ADL is a very busy shelter with a diverse surgical caseload, high volume spay/neuter clinic, and shelter medicine/herd health evaluation and treatment. This position provides leadership and direction to shelter staff; coordinates and directs the medical operations of the Animal Defense League and ensures sound and humane veterinary medical practices, in accordance with the Texas Veterinary Board. Directs all veterinary medical care related to shelter animals and implements practices and protocols related to shelter medicine. The ADL hospital is well-equipped with digital x-ray, doeppler, bair huggers, tono pen, fluid pumps and In house lab (blood analyzers, centrifuge, and microscopes). Position reports to the Chief Shelter Veterinarian and the Executive Director.

Requirements: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine; licensed or the ability to procure a license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Texas with a current DEA license. New graduates will be considered.
