Napa Small Animal Hospital is looking for an Associate Veterinarian to join our dynamic team! Established in 1989, our hospital honors the health and happiness of all pets and people, and it is our firm belief that you can’t put a price on doing the right thing. We are dedicated to providing top quality medical care to a diverse socio-economic community, and as a hospital we recognize that exceptional skills and excellent equipment can only go so far when clients don’t have the funds to pay for services. To help alleviate the ethical burden of turning away those in need due to financial constraints, each of our doctors, and our support staff collectively, receives a yearly charity stipend to use at their discretion for NSAH patients whose owners cannot afford care. If compassion, at root, means to respond fully to the needs of the moment, at NSAH we do everything we can to keep money from getting in the way of our team practicing medicine with integrity. Our ideal candidate is looking to bond with us and with our community, and we encourage applicants interested in growing into a leadership position. NSAH also strives to nurture doctors seeking to hone their skills in particular specialty areas of veterinary care (for example, acupuncture or dentistry). Indeed, as a full-service hospital of general veterinary medicine, we take great pride in the extensive range of services our doctors have to offer and are always excited to expand our ability to better serve our patients and clients. We have a truly terrific team of support staff, and are well-equipped with the following: - Digital standard and dental radiography
- Ultrasonography (new 2019 Oncura machine)
- Endoscopy (2016 Storz machine, rigid and flexible scopes)
- Extensive in-house as well as external laboratory and consulting services
- Cornerstone/paper-lite operating system
Additionally, for those times when a patient’s medical needs call for an even more specialized perspective or treatment than we can provide in-house, we have excellent working relationships with top specialty doctors and hospitals throughout the wider Bay Area, as well as the professors and doctors at the UC Davis VMTH. We would also like to emphasize that at NSAH, our commitment to caring extends to each other and we all work hard to maintain a positive atmosphere and to help one another go home feeling accomplished every day. We are a team that appreciates a good sense of humor as well as a professional attitude, and our management structure encourages healthy communication and collaboration both within and between departments. At NSAH, we enjoy getting together outside of the office when we can, and our doctors and staff are regularly engaged in various charitable efforts and events. In fact, just this past August our very own Team Kimba was proud to have raised the most money for Napa Humane’s annual fundraising ‘Walk for the Animals’ for the fifth year in a row! The proceeds all benefit Napa Humane, an organization which provides many services for the community and to which we also often contribute our skills when they host free clinics. Last but not least, NSAH is beautifully situated in the Napa Valley wine country, which is famous for good reason but boasts much more than world-class wine and a lovely countryside. Napa is within an hour’s drive from San Francisco, the Bay Area, and the Pacific Coast, and less than three hours from Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains. We really do get the best of both urban and natural wonders, with outdoor activities in abundance as well as access to rich and diverse cultural amenities. The cost of living in the region is also significantly lower than it is in the Bay Area. Our ideal candidate will have 2+ years of DVM experience, but we will consider more recent graduates with the right attitude and interests. Our compensation and benefit plans are generous, competitive and commensurate with experience, including: - Production based OR salaried compensation options
- Medical, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability insurance
- 401(k) plan with employer matching
- AVMA PLIT liability insurance
- Paid time off
- Continuing Education allowance
- Reimbursement for licensure and dues
- Employee discounts on personal pet health care
We are currently looking to fill 3-4 shifts per week, have the flexibility to consider FT or PT candidates, and can offer a set weekly schedule (with no on-calls, ever). At present our business hours are the following, with scheduled surgeries five days a week: -Monday- Friday 8am-7pm -Saturday 8am-6pm While we have been closed on Sundays since the spring of 2017, we would consider re-opening for an applicant interested in working a different schedule and offering limited services that day. |
