The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, Wisconsin (HAWS) is seeking a dedicated veterinarian to join their Spay / Neuter Clinic.
Each year HAWS, a non-profit organization established in 1965, assists 8,000 animals and welcomes more than 35,000 human visitors to our shelter. As an open admission shelter, HAWS accept animals regardless of age, health, temperament or breed. Our full service humane society offers programs and services that promote responsible pet ownership, preventing animal abuse and neglect in our community and beyond. HAWS promotes the humane care and treatment of all animals, and is actively working to build & maintain a No-Kill Community.

General Responsibilities:
- Provide and perform quality sterilization surgery for both shelter and community animals working in accordance with shelter veterinary, high volume standards.
- Provide quality medical care to both individual shelter residents and to pets in foster care, rescue group animals and to the pets of limited-income individuals within HAWS’ community.
- Some contact with the public is required, but is minimal compared to that in a private practice setting.
The right candidate will have strong surgical skills and interest in performing in a high volume spay/neuter surgical setting, with the option of having surgical variety by performing procedures based on ability such as orthopedics, dentistry, soft tissue and ophthalmic cases. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a positive and compassionate attitude, and be a self-motivated individual to work alongside management, staff, and volunteers.
Several years of surgical experience are preferred however, recent graduates with an interest in Shelter Veterinary Medicine, are encouraged to apply. Open to both full and part time candidates. Salary is commensurate with experience the general range 88,000-101,000
Prerequisites:
- Requires a valid State License by Veterinary Exam Board / Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited university.
