Veterinarian, Equine/Large Animal, School of Veterinary Medicine
The School of Veterinary Medicine at Rowan University is seeking (2) equine and/or large animal practitioners to join our program in establishing a new equine and large animal ambulatory service based out of our Glassboro, NJ campus. As a new service, candidates will be integral in developing the field service program from the ground up. The selected candidates will provide comprehensive routine and emergency care to equine and/or livestock patients in the field setting with the possibility for some in-hospital service as our facilities grow. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in equine and/or large animal practice through a minimum (2) years of relevant practice experience and/or completion of a related internship or residency program. Practice management skills such as a working knowledge of the operations of ambulatory service and ability to effectively manage support staff are preferred. Responsibility for providing after-hours emergency coverage will be shared across members of the service. While equine-specific and livestock-specific candidates will receive consideration, ideal candidates possess experience treating both equine and large animal (primarily small ruminant, camelid, bovine, and pet pig) species.
The successful candidate(s) will advance the academic mission of the School through their contributions to clinical service and instruction of DVM students, veterinary technology students, and house officers on field service rotations. These positions are Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor roles (rank commensurate with experience). While research and classroom instruction are not an integral component of clinical track roles we welcome candidates interested in contributing to the research and teaching mission of the institution.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The RowanSVM large animal field service covers Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties in Southern New Jersey. As such, veterinarians in this position who dedicate at least 16 hours per week serving dairy cattle, poultry, and small ruminants are eligible to apply for an available USDA Veterinary Medical Loan Repayment Program position (NJ232). Applicants granted a VMLRP position are eligible for up to $25k per year paid toward applicable student loan balances. More information is available at https://www.nifa.usda.gov/nj232.
