Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (MVES) is seeking Emergency Veterinarians to join our growing team! We opened a second hospital location in Overland Park in April 2021, and we have options to work at Mission or both the Overland Park and Mission locations if desired.
We are interested in speaking with experienced ER DVMs, internship trained DVMs, and new grads or GP DVMs who have an interest in emergency medicine. ER Mentorship is available!
Mission is a well-known Specialty hospital founded in 1993. We started the practice with a commitment to our RDVM’s, their clients and pets. We have not varied from that commitment. Daily communication with RDVM’s and clients is the norm for our practice. We work diligently to reinforce those interpersonal relationships that provide the cornerstone to our success. Our growth and success can be attributed to our commitment to our clients and referring veterinarians, collaboration and education.
Collaboration: Our ECC, internal medicine, and surgery departments work to create seamless transition for case management. The top priority is best care for each patient. That translates to cooperation between specialists to provide top quality care.
Education: Mission offers a rotating internship, and a surgical internship. We provide radiology rounds weekly for our interns and mentees, and our interns/mentees experience daily ICU rounds in the morning prior to specialists’ appointments. In addition, our interns have 4 formal presentations during the year. Our interns have successfully transitioned to private practice and residencies. We work hard to provide opportunity for each intern to reach their professional aspirations.

How your impact will be felt at Mission
Catalyst for MVES growth – We have developed our ECC department into an integral part of the business. The impact that ER DVMs and criticalists have in our patient care has resulted in substantial growth in the hospital. The expertise and innovation brought to our practice through criticalist intervention is good for patients, clients, RDVM’s, and other specialists in our hospital. The collaborative effort between our specialists affords this substantial benefit.
Training and Development – Being a true teaching hospital allows us to offer ER mentorship to new grads or GP DVMs who may be looking to transition to emergency medicine. Our mentorship program is led by our boarded Criticalist and is tailored to meet the individual needs of our mentees. Our passion about the development of others allows us to make Mission a better practice.

Our doctors and pet care teams share best practices, medical knowledge, innovation, and insights. This collaborative approach allows each individual practice and pet resort to do what they do best: service their local community with compassionate, best-in-class care and medicine, to enhance the lives of the animals they love while backed by the support, stability, and leadership of NVA.
Compassion-First and NVA recognize that we share deep-rooted values and priorities. For years, our dedication to Specialty and Emergency medicine has been a common background.
Our groups have long shared the belief that the best patient care comes from championing hospitals in their local communities and supporting the practices and culture that have made them successful. We believe in empowering veterinarians and their teams with deeper resources so they can do more of what’s already working.
Combining our strengths gives us the opportunity to make a lasting and positive impact on the profession, our people, and the care of animals.
As one of the only dedicated Specialty and Emergency groups in the industry, NVA Compassion-First is the trusted partner of hospital teams who are looking for more—more resources to advance their medicine, a greater sense of belonging, and increased opportunities to care for their patients, clients and people.
