Let's Talk Turkey
This phrase was first published in 1837 in the Niles Weekly Register Newspaper in Baltimore.
“An Indian and a white man went a shooting in partnership and a wild turkey and a crow were all the results of the day's toil. The white man, in the usual style of making a bargain with the Indian proposed a division of the spoils in this way: "Now Wampum, you may have your choice: you take the crow, and I'll tale the turkey; or, if you'd rather, I'll take the turkey and you take the crow." Wampum reflected a moment on the generous alternative thus offered, and replied - "You no talk turkey to me."

The Duke Animal Clinic at 1962 Schillinger Rd. S. has been established in the western suburbs of Mobile, Alabama for 42 years. Our goal is to provide consistent, high quality veterinary health care to the community. Currently, the staff consists of two full time veterinarians, one part-time veterinarian, a veterinary ophthalmologist and a veterinary dentist. The support personnel includes two licensed veterinary technicians and three skilled assistants. We participate with a local community college in their veterinary technology program and have at least one student each semester.
Our practice has an interesting variety of cases and is an excellent place to develop your practice skills with mentors that are motivated to help you learn. Not only does the ophthalmology and dentistry emphasis in our practice provide a unique experience, but our work with local rescue groups insure an interesting case load. Most recently, we have added oysters to our species list. A local hatchery, three oyster nurseries and some oyster farms have needed our help with health certificates, disease testing and certifications. Maybe bees will be next?
The clinic is located in the ...pine covered ridges of Mobile County and is 200 feet above sea level. 35 miles to the south is Dauphin Island, a populated barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico.
