Broadreach is seeking instructors for our summer 2025 season. Instructors will lead international programs for Middle and High School students based in the Bahamas.
Broadreach runs immersive veterinary medicine programs for middle and high school students. Programs include a 12-day adventure in the Bahamas and a more in-depth 21-day veterinary science program in Costa Rica, where students earn college credits on their trip.
Our most successful instructors are positive, flexible, team players who are able to create a fun, cohesive and supportive community. Broadreach instructors are energetic and empathetic role models. They excel in building meaningful relationships with young adults and demonstrate being a respectful traveler. Groups typically have 8-12 students and are led by two Broadreach instructors. Instructors live and travel with their group of students, so this is a 24/7 role, with limited personal space.
Our instructors will lead discussions about animal husbandry, safe animal handling and supervise students as they shadow local vets, animal clinics and shelters. Our instructors will also confirm logistics with local outfitters for activities such as kayaking, snorkeling and community service.
Responsibilities Include:
Managing health and safety of students
Maintaining a positive attitude through challenging circumstances
Leading games and activities to help students get to know each other and facilitate positive group dynamics
Participating in service-learning activities
Demonstrating respectful travel
Leading academic discussion
Tracking trip budgets and expenses
Assist students with preparing daily meals for the group.
New instructors are required to attend our staff week-long staff training, in the first week of June. Our summer season runs from June through August, 2025.
Our office is based in Raleigh, NC and instructors will lead programs based in the Bahamas.

Required Qualifications:
Educational background in animal science OR experience working or volunteering at a zoo, aquarium, animal sanctuary, clinic, or farm.
Feel comfortable and confident handling animals in a safe way.
A passion for mentoring and inspiring students.
Physically fit and able to participate in adventure activities such as hiking, rafting, snorkeling, etc.
Strong organizational skills to manage program budgets, student documents and confirm logistics with local outfitters.
Previous teaching/summer camp experience is a plus.
Broadreach leads international programs for teens with a focus on hands on learning, community service and exploring new locations. Students will earn academic credits throughout the summer as they travel with a group, and learn about cultures and biodiversity around them.
